According to the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), the Indian Logistics Industry is presently estimated at US$ 90 billion. The industry has generated employment for 45 million people in the country, in comparison with the IT and ITeS sector which employs approximately 4.3 million people. By CII estimates, it is forecast to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of approximately 8% over the next three to five years. Central Arya Road Transport (CART) is a prime player in the logistics business in India. Strong economic growth and liberalization have led to considerable increase in domestic and international trade volumes over the past five years. Consequently, the requirement for transportation, handling and warehousing is growing at a robust pace and is driving the demand for integrated logistics solutions.
